Penn State has questions at quarterback entering 2026 and who Matt Campbell will elect to be the guy leading his offense, but one candidate is off the board.
Former three-star quarterback Bekkem Kritza plans to enter the transfer portal when it opens, per Hayes Fawcett of On3.
A 6-foot-5 freshman from Chandler, Arizona, Kritza was ranked as the No. 33 quarterback in the class of 2025 by Rivals and went to high school in Florida.
He missed the first half of the season with an injury, but moved up the depth chart in the second half with Drew Allar out for the season and Jaxon Smolik banged up as well.
Kritza chose Penn State over playoff teams Miami and Texas A&M, as well as Colorado. He did not play a snap in 2025.
Penn State has a big decision to make between redshirt freshman Ethan Grunkemeyer and outside options, including transfer quarterbacks Rocco Becht (Iowa State) and old friend Beau Pribula (Missouri).
The transfer portal opens Jan. 2 and remains open for a single 15-day window through Jan. 16.
