We now know what time Penn State football will kickoff against Indiana next Saturday, Nov. 8.
It was announced late this Saturday night that Penn State’s clash with the No. 2 team in the country is scheduled for “Big Noon” on Fox.
Usually, Penn State’s games are announced 12 days in advance.
But because the Big Ten’s TV partners decided to enact a “six-day hold”— which is their right— fans didn’t know until Saturday night that Penn State-Indiana would be at noon.
The last meeting between PSU and IU was also a noon kickoff. That took place in late October 2023, when Penn State was very good and Indiana was on the verge of firing future Penn State defensive coordinator Tom Allen as head coach.
Now, Penn State is the team that made a change at head coach, moving on from James Franklin Oct. 12, and Indiana is the one that’s very good, having won its first nine games and climbed to No. 2 in the country.
It will be the first game Curt Cignetti has faced Penn State as a head coach, and he’s the guy many initially wanted to replace Franklin. But Cignetti signed a massive contract extension days later, thus ending whatever chance there was.
The odds will be stacked against Penn State Saturday, which is strange to say considering Penn State has only lost to Indiana twice since joining the Big Ten in 1993. But to paraphrase Phil Collins, “this is the world we live in.”
Penn State has lost five straight games and has yet to win a Power 4 game all year. They have four chances to fix that, and Saturday will, on paper, be the toughest.
