Penn State took another recruiting hit and lost one of its last remaining Class of 2026 commits to Syracuse.
Alexander Haskell, a 6-foot-4, 265-pound DL from Phillyโs St. Josephโs Prep, announced his commitment Thursday afternoon.
โCoach Brown and Coach Elijah have been building a great culture at Syracuse,โ Haskell told Steve Wiltfong of Rivals. โI love the culture and the standards coach Fran holds you on and off the field.โ
โCoach Elijahโ is Elijah Robinson, who played at Penn State in the mid-2000s and is now Syracuseโs associate head coach and defensive coordinator.
โI think it is also a great scheme fit for me,โ Haskell said.
Haskell is the first Penn State player to officially land with another school, although all but seven opened up their recruitment.
Others who reopened their recruitment are:
- 4-star LB Terry Wiggins, Coatesville, PA
- 4-star WR Jahsiear Rogers, Middleton, DE
- 4-star S Matt Sieg, McDonald, PA
- 4-star ATH David Davis, Pittsburgh, PA
- 4-star OL Kevin Brown, Harrisburg, PA
- 4-star RB Messiah Mickens, Harrisburg, PA
- 4-star LB Elijah Littlejohn, Charlotte, NC
- 3-star CB Amauri Polydor, Baltimore, MD
- 3-star OT Marlen Bright, Wayne, NJ
- 3-star OL Benjamin Eziuka, Novi, MI
- 3-star CB Jaziel Hart, Roanoke, VA
- 3-star LB Mathieu Lamah, Nokesville, VA
- 3-star OT Jack Fuchs, Hendersonville, PA
- 3-star S Darrell Carey, Hyattsville, MD
- 3-star CB Julian Peterson, Atco, NJ
- 3-star OT Tavian Branch, Taylor, PA
- 3-star DL Isaac Chukwurah, Bear, DE
The biggest one to watch is Sieg. Not only is he Penn Stateโs top rated Class of 2026 commit, heโs also a PA product, from Fort Cherry High School in the Pittsburgh Area. Keeping him would be huge for Penn Stateโs in-state recruiting, and the class in general.
