The firing of James Franklin has sent shockwaves through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania near and far and no place has felt that more to this moment than on the recruiting trail.
Those shockwaves will continue to be felt for quite some time until a new coach and staff is hired and can hit the road to recruit.
It’s taken its toll on the 2027 Class, which now doesn’t exist.
For the 2026 Class, Penn State has lost multiple players, including their top rated quarterback and one would have to imagine more are still coming as eight other players have reopened their recruiting and will consider other schools.
One of the largest side effects to firing a college coach is felt on the recruiting trail. Commits will stay and what will go, and Franklin’s firing won’t be any different.
