As if the Penn State head coaching search wasn’t interesting enough, a new wrinkle has entered the fold. PSU’s former head coach hasn’t spoken since being fired in the midst of his 12th season. Until now.
According to ESPN, James Franklin is scheduled to appear in person on College GameDay this Saturday.
College GameDay will be broadcasting live from Athens, Georgia, for No. 5 Ole Miss at. No. 9 Georgia at 9 a.m. ESPN Vice President of PR Bill Hofheimer said on social media that Franklin will join the show for an exclusive interview.
It’s not yet known what time Franklin will appear, nor what he’ll have to say.
Franklin has been quiet since being fired on Sunday afternoon, not releasing anything publicly on TV, radio, or social media.
What will Franklin say about his time at Penn State? Will he confirm the report that he asked for a contract extension before the season? What does Franklin think of how the season unfolded?
Penn State plays at Iowa on Saturday night (7 p.m.) in the first game of the post-Franklin era, with interim head coach Terry Smith leading the Nittany Lions for the remainder of the season.
