UNIVERSITY PARK– With roughly nine minutes left in the third quarter of Saturday’s season opener against Nevada, Penn State announced its attendance for Beaver Stadium.
The figure came in at 106,915.
This is hardly a staggering amount, nor was it expected to be.
Nevada isn’t a marquee opponent, so it isn’t as if fans woke up Saturday morning expecting a new attendance mark to be set. Penn State’s attendance mark isn’t in the top 10. But it is, indeed, a sellout, since Beaver Stadium’s official capacity is 106,304.
The team’s Sept. 27 White Out game against Oregon should end up getting an attendance figure inside the top 10, if not much higher. Until then, Penn State needs to take care of FIU and Villanova, with both games being at home.
