Penn State beat Nevada in Beaver Stadium in the 2025 season opener 46-11.
Let’s take a deep dive into some of the key numbers yesterday.
1 – Penn State defensive tackle Zane Durant claimed the first interception of the season. Durant was the first defensive tackle in the James Franklin era to get an interception. The last defensive tackle to get an interception was Jordan Hill in 2012.
2 – Forced fumbles created by EDGE Dani Dennis-Sutton. Dennis-Sutton is the first Penn State defender to force multiple fumbles in a game since Micah Parsons in the 2019 Cotton Bowl.
4 – Field goals by kicker Ryan Barker, matching his career high from the 2024 USC game.
16 – receptions by Penn State receivers. Kyron Hudson was the first Penn State to have a reception since Harrison Wallace III made a reception in the fourth quarter of the Fiesta Bowl against Boise State. Last season, the most receptions the wide receiver unit had was against Kent State with 14. The last time the Nittany Lions receivers had 15 or more receptions in a game against a Power 4 opponent was against Maryland in 2023.
25 – rushing touchdowns in the career of Kaytron Allen, now tied for 13th place all time in Penn State history with DJ Dozier and Tony Hunt.
29 – With PSU holding Nevada to 78 yards rushing, it was the 29th time since 2022 that PSU has held an opponent under 100 rushing yards. The most in the FBS.
43 – career total touchdowns (rushing, receiving, return) for Nick Singleton. Singleton now trails Saquon Barkley (53) for total touchdowns made by a Nittany Lion.
94 – yard drive that led to a fourth quarter Ethan Grunkemeyer rushing touchdown was the longest drive by a PSU team since the 2024 Big Ten Championship Game against Oregon when the Nittany Lions went 97 yards.
