One of the top-rated Penn State football Class of 2027 commits will be on campus for today’s game against Nevada.
Pine Richland star Khalil Taylor confirmed to Nittany Sports Now that he’ll be at Penn State-Nevada.
One of Taylor’s classmates, Kemon Spell, who committed to Penn State last August, will be at another major college football game this weekend.
Spell will be at No. 3 Ohio State for its showdown with No. 1 Texas. There was talk that Taylor— who, like Spell, is a WPIAL star— would be joining him in Columbus but that did not come to pass.
Taylor, who once starred at Seton LaSalle, started his Pine-Richland career with a bang Friday night.
The four-star who’s the No. 53 overall player, No. 10 overall receiver and No. 4 player in PA took the opening kickoff back 98 yards for a touchdown.
Taylor was offered by Notre Dame three months after committing but told PennLive that a big reason he did commit was his relationship with receivers coach Marques Hagans
“We’re just getting to know each other, but I know our relationship is going to be great,” he said. “I love his vibe. I love how he is as a person, and I know me and him are going to become best friends even before I get up there.”
Seton LaSalle coach Tim Storino, who is now Taylor’s former high school coach, spoke highly of his talent.
“I’ve never seen a boy like this,” Storino told PennLive. “Not that there’s not NFL players at Central, they’re just different positions. From a wide receiver standpoint, I’ve never seen a kid like this in this area.”
Due to PIAA rules on transferring, Taylor won’t be able to compete in postseason play this season.
Seton LaSalle went 11-1 and made it to the WPIAL title game, and Taylor was a huge reason why.
He ended the season with 932 yards and 22– yes, 22– touchdowns on 53 receptions.
Taylor also ran two kicks back for touchdowns and ran an interception back, showcasing his speed.
Along with football, Taylor runs track and runs it well. He qualified for states in the 100-meter dash as a freshman and runs an 11.05 in that event.
A lot of schools wanted Taylor. He had offers from places such as Notre Dame, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan State, Nebraska, Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
