Penn State football’s top-rated Class of 2027 commit and one of the best players in the WPIAL is changing schools.
Mike White of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette reported Monday night that Khalil Taylor, who previously had been a star at Seton LaSalle High School in the Pittsburgh Area, is transferring to Pine-Richland.
“Khalil said it’s not for athletic intent,” White posted to social media. “Dad lives in Pine district.”
Pine-Richland is one of the WPIAL’s premier programs, having won nine district championships, with the most recent being this past fall. A player like Taylor certainly wouldn’t hurt its chances to repeat. He’s a guy who very well could be a five-star before too long.
247Sports has Taylor as the No. 53 overall player in the country from his class— the top 32 are five-stars— as well as the No. 10 receiver and the No. 4 player in Pennsylvania.
His performance as a sophomore last year earned him KDKA Super 7 2A player of the Year. Century Conference Player of the Year.
Seton LaSalle went 11-1 and made it to the WPIAL title game, and Taylor was a huge reason why.
He ended the season with 932 yards and 22– yes, 22– touchdowns on 53 receptions.
Taylor also ran two kicks back for touchdowns and ran an interception back, showcasing his speed.
Along with football, Taylor runs track and runs it well. He qualified for states in the 100-meter dash as a freshman and runs an 11.05 in that event.
A lot of schools wanted Taylor. He had offers from places such as Notre Dame, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan State, Nebraska, Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
He committed to Penn State in late March.
