With many feeling the 2025 secondary has the potential to be the best secondary in program history, the depth that will follow this unit got better today with a commitment from a Top 100 athlete in the Class of 2027.
Four-star cornerback Gabriel Jenkins from Imani Christian (Pittsburgh, PA) became the fourth commitment for Penn State in the Class of 2027.
“I committed to Penn State because I think it’s the best for me,” Jenkins said of his decision. “I don’t have to go too far and besides that, two of my teammates are on the team. Why not make it three and ball out?”
The two other Imani Christian teammates are defensive end Dayshun Burnett and four-star athlete David Davis from the Class of 2026.
Jenkins said his decision to commit to Penn State was because he felt the scheme was conducive to his strengths as well as his appreciation for the physical and aggressive characteristics of a Knowles defense.
Jenkins selected Penn State over Indiana, Michigan State, Nebraska, Pitt, and West Virginia.
Scouts marvel at Jenkins ability to contribute in all three phases of football that include rushing for over 1,000 yards and getting six interceptions at cornerback.
Jenkins’ frame has room to go and his ability to be an elite coverage defender eliminates the offense at the catch point as well as an excellent leverage tackler but an aggressive one.
