In anticipation of Penn State men’s hockey’s encore season following its first trip to the Frozen Four, the first details of the 2025-26 calendar have been unveiled.
On Wednesday, the program officially announced its non-conference schedule. Penn State will open the season at Arizona State on October 3-4.
Arizona State finished last season No. 15 in the Pairwise Rankings. The Sun Devils reached the NCAA Tournament but didn’t advance out of the first round.
The Nittany Lions will begin the home schedule hosting Clarkson inside Pegula Ice Arena on Thursday, Oct. 9. The matchup begins a back-to-back series against Clarkson concluding Friday.
All but one remaining non-conference game is in Hockey Valley.
Penn State hosts LIU from Oct. 17-18 and Stonehill College on Oct. 24-25.
The Nittany Lions will play RIT in a home-and-home matchup to begin 2026. RIT comes to Pegula on Jan. 2 and Penn State will play at RIT on Jan. 3.
The Big Ten has yet to reveal the 2025-26 conference schedule. The Big Ten tourney begins on March 6.
Penn State made the biggest splash in program history, signing 2026 projected No. 1 pick Gavin McKenna over Michigan State. McKenna will join the Nittany Lions this season.
The move further solidified PSU’s arrival on the national stage as a power player in college hockey.
Penn State also added a commitment from 2025 14th overall pick Jackson Smith (Columbus).
2025-26 has a chance to be a historic year at Penn State, with the volleyball and wrestling programs coming off national championships and both football and men’s hockey two of the favorites to win it all.
