In recruiting news, Penn State is in the mix for a Class of 2026 hoss from Texas.

There aren’t a lot of ‘26 OL prospects that are more promising than Drew Evers, and there aren’t a lot of schools that have a shot at him.

Penn State is one of those schools.

Per Hayes Fawcett of On3Sports, the No. 7 IOL from the recruiting  Class of 2026 has Penn State in his top six.

Also in the mix are LSU— which projects to be in the top 10– defending national champ Ohio State, Oklahoma, SMU— who Penn State pounded in the College Football Playoff last season— and Texas A&M.

EVERS ON PENN STATE

Evers hasn’t had much to say about Penn Statw in recent interviews. A lot of that is probably because he hasn’t taken his official visit yet. Evers took his first official visit earlier this month, going to SMU.

“I am in the process of slowing things down and narrowing some things down,” Evers told On3’s Chad Simmons this spring. “I am trying to find the right fit. Education, good football, the staff — all those things play into my decision and what I am looking for in a school.”

Overall. Evers had a good time at SMU.

“This visit was basically just about reassuring what I already knew,” Evers told On3’s Billy Embody. “I’ve been around Coach Foster, Coach Justice, Coach Lashlee for a long, long time, you know? I’ve had a great relationship with them, and basically all this visit was just spending time with them, growing that relationship. I know where I stand with them, I know it’s great. I was watching film with Coach Reggie (Bain) just a couple seconds ago, and Coach (D’Eriq) King.”

WHAT WOULD A COMMITMENT MEAN?

So what would a commitment from Evers mean for Penn State? Well, the school has been known to land quality offensive linemen over the past several years, and Evers certainly is that. Penn State has another good one in Kevin Brown committed to the 2026 Class. Brown is the No. 8 offensive tackle prospect in the country per 247Sports.

Penn State has 18 players committed to its 2026 Class. It’s ranked fourth in the country per 247.
