Penn State Wrestling: Cael Sanderson’s Son, Teag, Wins Junior High State Title

Penn State wrestling coach Cael Sanderson’s son is a state champ.

Teag Sanderson, son Cael and nephew of Penn State assistant coach Cody Sanderson, became the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling junior high state champ at 157 pounds.

Sanderson entered the tournament as a No. 20 seed but, as his father has been known to do, dominated.

During the tournament, he won five bouts by fall, the last won being over a guy named, ironically enough, Cael Smith. For further irony, considering Cael Smith’s age and that he wrestlers in Pennsylvania, there’s a good chance that he was named after Teag’s father.

Teag Sanderson, currently in the eighth grade, wrestles out of State College, so chances are, based on that, he’ll attend State College Area high school and wrestle for Jason Nickal, father of Penn State wrestling great and current UFC up-and-comer Bo Nickal.
