One of Penn Stateโs best tight-end products has signed a lucrative extension in Cincinnati.ย
According to multiple reports, Mike Gesicki has re-signed with the Bengals on a three-year, $25.5 million contract. Gesicki will earn $12 million in the first year of the front-loaded contract.
Gesicki, 29, posted one of the most successful pro seasons of his seven-year career with Joe Burrow. In his first campaign as a Bengal, Gesicki grabbed 65 catches on 83 targets for 665 yards and two touchdowns.ย
Gesicki averaged 10.2 yards per reception in a loaded offense containing Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins, whom the Bengals franchise tagged for the second consecutive year.ย
The 6-foot-6 tight end has only missed one game in the NFL while playing for the Bengals, Miami Dolphins, and New England Patriots.ย
In four strong seasons at Penn State, Gesicki grabbed 129 passes for 1,481 yards and 15 touchdowns in 51 games. Gesicki caught 57 passes for 563 yards and nine touchdowns over 12 games as a senior in 2017, a major part of Penn Stateโs run to the Cotton Bowl.ย
His 15 scores were the second most in program history at the time. PSU Heisman candidate Tyler Warren broke Pat Freiermuthโs record with 19 and the likely top-15 pick established new records for receptions and yards in a season previously set by Gesicki.
Gesicki has recorded four seasons of over 80 targets, including 112 paired with a career-best 72 catches in 2021.
Cincinnati finished 2024 9-8 and missed the playoffs after high expectations to be a Super Bowl contender.ย
