Plenty of Penn State football players had a chance to prove themselves at Friday’s Pro Day but for NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger, one helped himself the most.
Results Are In: How Did Pro Day Turn Out For Ex-Penn State Players?
For Baldinger, Penn State LB Kobe King took advantage of the opportunity.
King, of course, was a fixture in Penn State’s defense for three seasons, becoming the team’s starting MIKE linebacker in 2022 and holding that position through his last college game.
At Pro Day, King competed in everything that was available to him.
His numbers were as followed.
Bench: 26
Broad: 9’10”
40: 4.63
Pro: 4.26
3-cone: 7.21
For context, the 26 bench press reps were one more than Coziah Izzard, who outweighs King by almost 70 pounds, and only two fewer than Dvon J-Thomas, who’s the same weight as Izzard.
So overall, it was a pretty good day.
WHAT ‘BALDY’ SAID

Penn State linebacker Kobe King lines up against Notre Dame in the CFP semifinals.
Here’s what Baldinger, who some call “Baldy” had to say about King in an exclusive with Nittany Sports Now.
“I think Kobe King helped himself today. He’s just a good player but then he competed in all of the events today. Bench press, short shuttle, 40, the whole thing. I think Kobe solidified himself as an off the ball inside linebacker.”
WHAT ELSE STUCK OUT?

So what else about Penn State’s Pro Day stood out to Baldinger?
Well, even though Penn State’s two projected first-round picks— Abdul Carter and Tyler Warren— didn’t workout, he was still impressed by their presence at the event.
“I know they didn’t compete today but they were there,” he said. “Tyler didn’t want to do one interview until everything was done. They’re just teammates. Good teammates. So I think people want to learn about what teammates these guys are as much as they want to study the film and see what kind of player they are.”
As of now, King projects to go between anywhere from the fourth to the seventh round.
