Penn State football’s top-rated Class of 2026 commit has set a WPIAL record.
With his third touchdown against Monessen Friday night, Fort Cherry’s Matt Sieg broke the WPIAL scoring record.
It’s not the first record Sieg has broken at Fort Cherry, and it won’t be the last.
Although most of Sieg’s highlights that fans see on social media are from his play at quarterback, he’s going to Penn State to play safety. He’s the No. 9 safety in the country from his class per 247Sports, the No. 2 overall player in Pennsylvania and the No. 79 player in the land.

So was it difficult for Sieg to resist temptation, even in this day and age where NIL makes that temptation stronger than ever?
“Not really,” Sieg told Nittany Sports Now exclusively at Fort Cherry High School in August. “I mean, since I was a kid, I wanted to go to Penn State. So once we made the commitment, I mean I knew that’s where I wanted to be. I don’t want to shop myself around. Once I made the commitment, I knew that’s where I wanted to be. So, kind of was open and told a lot of schools that I’m set where I’m at.”
