A firmer Penn State QB is reuniting with his college coach.
Per a report by ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Matt McGloin is joining Bill O’Brien’s staff at Boston College as an analyst.
This is a feel good story, especially for Penn State fans.
O’Brien and McGloin were two of the people who helped Penn State fall afloat following the Jerry Sandusky scandal and resulting NCAA sanctions.
The pair only had one year together but that year was one of the most magical in Penn State history. The team went from 0-2 with the season seemingly going down the tubes to 8-4 with hope for a brighter future. McGloin played a big part in that, leading the Big Ten in passing with 3,271 yards.
A CHANGE OF PROFESSIONS
McGloin is going through an apparent change of professions. Last November, he was elected to the a Lackawanna (Pa.) County Board of Commissioners last November and started serving in January. McGloin is also a member of the Penn State Board of Trustees. We’ll see if that changes.
O’Brien, on the other hand, is entering his second season as the boss at Boston College. He went 7-6 last year.
Both Boston College and Penn State open their seasons Aug. 30. Boston College plays Fordham and Penn State plays Nevada, each at home.
