In recruiting news, Penn State footballโs highest-rated recruit in the Class of 2026 has received an offer from the team that eliminated the PSU from the College Football Playoff.
On Thursday, Fort Cherry (McDonald, PA) quarterback/safety Matt Sieg earned an official offer from Notre Dame.

Wide receiver commits Jahsiear Rogers and Lavar Keys were both offered by Bill Belichick and North Carolina on Tuesday as opposing programs attempt to poach Penn Stateโs best verbal commits.ย
Similar to Rogers and Keys, Sieg will be in Happy Valley on an official visit from May 30 to June 1.ย

Sieg is 247Sportsโ top commit in the class, a four-star safety ranked No. 73 in the country. Sieg committed on Nov. 2, the morning of the Penn State-Ohio State game ย and earned a 90 overall grade.
A 5-foot-11 safely who has won back-to-back WPIAL titles in Pittsburgh, Sieg is also a two-time first-team all-state athlete.ย
He committed to Penn State as the second-highest recruit in Pennsylvania and leads a PSU program ranked 5th in the class.ย
On3 slots Sieg third (90.36) behind two Harrisburg juniors. Offensive lineman Kevin Brown (93.84), the No. 1 ranked player in the state, and running back Messiah Mickens are both committed to the Nittany Lions in a class ranked 6rh in the nation.
On3 ranks Sieg the No. 222 player in the country, No. 18 safety, and No. 7 in the state. Penn State delivered On3โs No. 14 ranked class in 2025 after considering transfers, slotting 4th place in the Big Ten.
