With his 28-yard reception in the first quarter of the Big Ten Championship game, Tyler Warren further cemented his legacy in blue-and-white eclipsed the 1,000 receiving yard plateau.
Warren is having an exceptional season for Penn State as their leading receiver and Jack of all trades offensively having thrown for a touchdown, rushed for four touchdowns and hauled in five touchdown receptions on the season.
In breaking 1,000 yards, Warren joins former Nittany Lions Mike Gesicki and Pat Freiermuth in the 1,000-yard club as a tight end.
He broke the career receiving yard record for a tight end with his 102-yard performance last week against Minnesota and entered Saturday’s contest with 910 yards on the season.
Warren rewrote the record books for a Nittany Lion tight end against Maryland as he broke Freiermuth’s career touchdown receptions mark with his second quarter touchdown putting him at 17 for his career and Gesicki’s career receptions for a tight end mark with his first catch of the second half.
He’s also set the record for having the most career 100-yard receiving games (5), most career total touchdowns (23) and had the best single game as a tight end in Penn State history with his 17-catch, 224-yard and one touchdown performance against USC.
