One of Penn State football’s best players hasn’t decided yet if he wants to stay in school or go to the NFL after this season.
Talking with reporters Tuesday afternoon, Nicholas Singleton, who has one season of eligibility remaining, said that, right now, the focus is on SMU.
He plans to assess his options after the season.
Penn State— which already has QB Drew Allarset to come back for 2025– would love to have Singleton back in the fold. He’s been a staple in the PSU offense for almost three full seasons now, responsible for some of the best moments Penn State’s had during that stretch.

WHY SINGLETON IS IMPORTANT

Singleton’s third season at Penn State hasn’t been an easy one.
Initially, it looked like Singleton was poised for a career year, going for more than 100 yards in Penn State’s first two games, wins over West Virginia and Bowling Green.
He hasn’t broken 100 since, and it’s hard to argue health hasn’t been a big reason.

He’s played in each of Penn State’s seven games since, but it hasn’t been smooth sailing.
Singleton got hurt against in the second half of the team’s 35-6 win over Washington Nov. 9, but returned for the next week’s game against Purdue.
Now, Singleton is ready to roll. Over the last two games, he’s rushed for 292 yards and two touchdowns, averaging roughly 8.8 yards per carry.

Two of Penn State’s best defenders were also asked about their statuses for next season. LB Kobe King, who would be entering his fifth year in 2025, along with DT Zane Durant, who came in with Singleton in the Class of 2022, each said they haven’t made a decision yet.
Penn State takes on SMU Saturday, Dec. 21 at Beaver Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for noon on TNT and HBO Max.
