The Penn State White Out — whether it’s on ESPN, CBS or streaming exclusively on Peacock— remains one of the greatest spectacles in sports but at least one player feels something even better could be in the horizon.
If No. 6 Penn State wins its next three games, it should be in prime position to host a College Football Playoff game in late December.
Should that happen, Penn State could well again have another White Out. This time, it would be with everything at stake.

If Penn State is to make it to the Playoff, Kobe King would be a big reason. The fourth-year LB and first-year team captain has been playing stellar ball all season. He had another big game against Washington with seven tackles and a sack.
King knows Penn State still has work to do to get to the post season, starting this Saturday. But he also knows that, should Penn State get into the postseason and host a game, Beaver Stadium would be perhaps the most bonkers it’s ever been.
“I know people would be excited,” King told reporters after Penn State’s 35-6 win over Washington. “It might be a little cold, but it might be even better than the White Out.”
Late December in Happy Valley might be more than “a little cold.” But per Penn State AD Pat Kraft, Beaver Stadium would be ready to go.

A Playoff game would instantly because the most important in Beaver Stadium history and something big would need to be done from a marketing standpoint.
But could that big thing be a second White Out?
“It may be a White Out, and we had nothing to do with it being a White Out,” coach James Franklin said jokingly at Big Ten Media Days this past July. “It may be a weather White Out.”
Then, he got more serious.
“I will say this, something that me and Pat (Kraft) really haven’t talked about up to this point, but we feel very strongly that there should be one White Out a year. We’re able to create some really cool environments with a Stripe Out, a Helmet Stripe, which is very close to a White Out. We’re able to create some really good environments — the throwback [Generations of Greatness] game. I think it’s up for discussion with myself, Pat and others to say, ‘Hey, we only do one White Out a year, but if we would have a home playoff game, is that something to discuss?’”
Penn State takes on Purdue Saturday with kickoff scheduled for 3:30.
