As one does in the internet era, former Penn State Nittany Lion and current Chicago Bears safety Jaquan Brisker took to social media Friday to voice his thoughts after Chicago melted down in the last minute of its Thanksgiving matchup with the Detroit Lions.
After storming most of the way back from a 16-point fourth quarter deficit thanks to a pair of passing touchdowns from rookie first overall pick Caleb Williams, the Bears’ comeback bid fell tantalizingly short.
Chicago had possession in Lions’ territory with 30 seconds to play when Williams took a sack. The clock began to roll and, although he still held a timeout in his back pocket, then-Bears head coach Matt Eberflus sat on it and allowed time to tick away.
Just outside field goal range in domed Ford Field, the Bears could’ve picked up a few yards on third down and set up a game-tying field goal attempt.
Instead, Williams needed to rush a deep shot that fell away harmlessly as time expired.

If the initial reaction to Eberflus’ gaffe—with an average of more than 27 million people tuning in amidst Turkey Day festivities—looked bad, the third-year coach threw gasoline on the fire during his postgame press conference when he said “I like what we did there” in addressing the issue.
A 2022 Bears’ second round pick, Brisker, who missed the game with a concussion and hasn’t played since Oct. 6 against the Carolina Panthers, appeared to join in on the social media dunk fest by posting the laughing emoji to X, formerly Twitter, soon after Eberflus’ bizarre refusal to take accountability.

When news broke barely two hours later, Brisker struck again with a bitingly succinct observation: “God don’t make mistakes”.
God don’t make mistakes.

This isn’t the first time Jaquan Brisker has let his opinions fly on social media in recent weeks: after the Bears allowed a 45-yard pass from Sam Darnold to Jordan Addison in the first quarter of their November 24 loss to Minnesota, he tweeted “miss me yet?!!” before promptly deleting it.
