UNIVERSITY PARKโย All throughout Penn State-Ohio State week, it looked like OSU would have some things to work through up front, and todayโs availability report confirms that.
As expected, left tackle Zen Michalski will not play against Penn State.
Michalski, who initially was Ohio Stateโs second-string left tackle before Josh Simmons suffered a season-ending injury against Oregon Oct. 12, got carted off the field during Ohio Stateโs 21-17 win over Nebraska in Columbus last Saturday.
Coach Ryan Day said during his Tuesday press conference that there was a chance Michalski could still play but later in the week said he expected him to be out.
WHAT HAPPENS NOW?
When Michalski got hurt against Nebraska, Donovan Jackson moved from left guard to left tackle. Moving over to left guard was Luke Montgomery, a second-year player from Findlay, Ohio who Penn State recruited. Although Ohio State is banged up on the o-line, the same could be said for Penn State on the d-line. Dani Dennis-Sutton, a player many project to be a first-round 2025 draft pick, is dealing with an apparent groin injury that kept him out for most of the second half against Wisconsin Saturday.
Coach James Franklin said in his Monday presser than Dennis-Sutton is expected to be a game time decision, and Penn Stateโs availability report listed him as questionable.
As a result, Penn State may have to use true freshman Max Granville. Granville played 10 snaps against Wisconsin after only appearing in one of the first six games.
PENN STATE COULD BE WITHOUT OL
Align with Dennis-Sutton, the other Penn State player listed as questionable on the Ohio State week availability report is starting right tackle Anthony Donkoh. Weโll find out soon enough who will play and who wonโt.
Penn State-Ohio State is scheduled to kickoff at noon on Fox.
