University Park— Penn State fans expected the team to trounce Kent State Saturday, which it did, 56-0.
They may not have expected a record for total yards, which had stood for 98 years, to go down.
But that happened.
Penn State ended the day with 718 yards of total offense, breaking the previous record of 71-.
“There’s definitely going to be things to clean up from this game…” QB Drew Allar said afterward. “There’s going to be little things to clean up and those are going to be the things we have to keep continuing to grow on. But, really, we talk about on offense each week as we’re finding out process and getting better at our process. Our process should be growing each week and we should be adding on things and getting better and just perfecting it.”
Here more from Allar (17-for-21, 309 yards, 3 TD, no INT) as well as safety Jaylen Reed (three tackles), CB Jalen Kimber, WR Liam Clifford (three catches, 64 yards, TD), TE Tyler Warren (five catches, 50 yards, TD, 1-for-1 passing, 17 yards, TD), and DE Abdul Carter (four tackles, one sack).
