For several months, Penn State and West Virginia fans have exchanged words over the internet in anticipation for Saturday’s season opener between the team’s in Morgantown.
There were sure to be some more words said and gestures offered in and around Milan Puskar Stadium all day Saturday.
Things got off to an early start Friday afternoon.
With Pat McAfee hosting his show on WVU’s campus Friday afternoon, plenty of Mountaineer fans were present. With Morgantown being less than three hours away from State College and Penn State having the largest alumni association in the country, there were Penn State fans present, too.
One of them got himself noticed enough to have water bottles thrown in his direction, with “fuck Penn State” chants in the background.
In a video captured by the X (formerly Twitter) account Incivil EnginEer, it appears that a West Virginia fan tries to steal a Penn State fan’s flag.
After the PSU fan fights him off, he celebrates his triumph by raising both hands in the air.
This leads to the bottles coming in. The Penn State fan continues to taunt for roughly 40 more seconds but leaves the flag unguarded long enough for another man to grab it.
Whether or not the PSU fan got his flag back is unconfirmed.
