The latest offer from Penn State football goes out to a player with Hall of Fame bloodlines.
2026 4-star athlete Jett Washington confirms to Nittany Sports Now that his latest in a long list of offers is from Penn State football. Washington is the nephew of former Los Angeles Lakers and NBA legend Kobe Bryant.
“I found out about the Penn State offer from DJ Bryant (recruiting coordinator) on a phone call,” Washington tells NSN.
Bryant (6’4″, 200-pounds) is from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nevada and is rated as the No. 1 recruit in the state. Along with Penn State, Washington’s offer list includes Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Utah and Washington.
Being from the West Coast, Bryant obviously grew up following schools such as USC and UCLA but is familiar with the national brand of Penn State football thanks to his father.
Bryant’s size and athleticism make him an intriguing prospect at the next level and it’s still uncertain which position he’ll end up playing in college. He says that right now, most programs are looking at him as a safety and wide receiver.
“I think my strengths are my versatility and length,” says Washington. “They (Penn State) like me at safety and told me they have a lot of big safeties.”
As a sophomore, Washington finished the season with 37 tackles and two interceptions.

247Sports recruiting analyst Greg Biggins had this recent evaluation of Washington.
“Washington is a high major prospect in football and basketball. He’s the nephew of NBA legend Kobe Bryant (mom is Bryant’s sister) and helped lead the Gaels to a state title on the hardwood. He brings a lot of versatility to the gridiron as well. The big question with Washington is what position will he play in college? He’s a legit 6’5″, 200 pounds and could end up at receiver, safety, linebacker or even grow into an edge rusher. He played primarily safety as a sophomore and can play in the box, loves to hit and has a nice physical edge in his game. We’ve seen him work out at receiver and he looks natural running routes, has strong hands and can make plays down the field. With his frame and growth potential, it’s not hard to envision him eventually moving to linebacker but regardless where he lines up, he’s a tremendous prospect and has a very high ceiling.”
Thus far, Washington has made two visits this year (California and Ohio State) with more visits and interest no doubt coming during the upcoming months.
“The programs that I have been in touch with the most are Alabama, Oregon, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Texas, Michigan and Penn State,” said Washington.
This elite recruit isn’t going to rush the recruiting process and plans on making more visits, including some Game Day visits this season.
