James Franklin is entering his 11th season in charge of the Penn State football program.
The Nittany Lions are coming off a season in which they went 10-3, which was good enough for 3rd place in the Big Ten East.
That’s a familiar spot for them in the conference as Penn State as finished in 3rd place four of the last six seasons. The problem and obstacle for Penn State has always been being in the same division of Michigan and Ohio State.
Just a reminder that with the addition of their newest members, USC, UCLA, Washington and Oregon, the Big Ten conference will be scrapping divisions.
Starting this season, the 16-team conference will now be determined by the top two teams in the standings squaring off in the title game.
A majority of the preseason polls have Penn State as a Top 10 team, but the problem is that most people are predicting that both Ohio State and Oregon will be better than the Nittany Lions.

Penn State football
When examining the Penn State roster, the good news is that they will be returning a number of big-name players on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.
Without a doubt, the strength of Penn State’s 2024 offense will be the running back tandem of Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen. In 2023, the duo combined for 343 carries for 1,652 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. With an improved passing game, those numbers could improve this season.
Defensively, new defensive coordinator Tom Allen’s unit will be led by safety K.J. Winston, defensive end Abdul Carter and Dani Dennis-Sutton.
In order for Penn State to have a chance of making a run at the Big Ten title, their passing game will need to evolve and become a threat in order to take some pressure of Singleton and Allen. Can Drew Allar fulfill his vast potential and develop into the star many people believe he can be.
That’s arguably the biggest concern of both the Penn State coaches and the fan base.
But we want to hear from you, what do you believe the biggest concern of the 2024 Penn State football team is?
