A blue-chip cornerback and heavy Penn State target has committed to another Big Ten school.
Tuesday night, Brandon Finney, a four-star from the McDonough School in Owings Mills, Maryland, announced his commitment to Oregon.

Many felt that PSU had a great chance to land Finney.
PSU offered Finney in December, and he visited Penn State for one of the school’s Junior Day events the next month. He then took an official visit to Penn State the first weekend of the summer— or the last weekend of May— before taking one to Oregon a month later. Two days after taking that visit, Finney announced his commitment.
This one will sting a little bit for Penn State fans not only because of Finney’s talent, but also because— for now, at least, Finney won’t be following the McDonough—Penn State pipeline.
Past PSU players PJ Mustipher and Curtis Jacobs played there. On the current team, Dani Dennis-Sutton— projected to start and star at defensive end in 2024– along with Dvon Ellies and Mason Robinson— all played at McDonough.
Finney even told On3Sports that PSU was his No. 1 before Oregon swayed him.
“Before Oregon, I was kind of set on Penn State,” Finney told On3. “During the visit, through meetings with Coach Tosh (Lupoi) and Coach (Chris) Hampton and Coach (Cody) Wadood, seeing how they would use me, how they don’t have too many people at corner and then with Coach (Kyle) Bolton, meeting him kinda influenced the decision.”
Despite losing out on Finney, PSU has been rolling in recruiting recently. PSU picked up three ‘25 commitments between Saturday and Monday night.
