It’s no secret that landing a top-flight receiver is very high on the Penn State football recruiting board for this Class of 2025.
Last weekend, the Nittany Lions hosted four-star wide out Taz Williams, Jr. and will have another big-time player in town this weekend.
2025 4-star wide out Koby Howard from Hollywood, Florida will arrive in State College on Friday for an official visit. Howard (6’1″, 175-pounds) is a 4-star (5.9 recruit) and is rated by Rivals.com as the No. 145 overall player in the Class of 2025.
Prior to this visit to Penn State, Howard has also taken official visits to Florida, Florida State and Ole Miss. This will be Howard’s first time traveling to Penn State so his first impressions will be key.
“I decided to make an official visit because I really have a great relationship with all of the coaches on the Penn State staff,” Howard tells NSN. “Every single day, I have a different coach from Penn State calling me and making me feel like I’m a huge priority for them. A lot of their coaches text me but I believe I have the strongest relationship with Coach Seider. He texts me almost every day to check up on me and wants to see how I’m doing, my family is doing and how spring football is going. He’s just built a strong relationship with me and wants to make sure I’m good.
“Also, I’ve never been up to Penn State so I felt like I needed to get up there to see what they have and see what they could possibly provide to me. It might be the best fit for me, and I just have to keep all of my options open. I know that Penn State is a really good school.”
Aside from learning about the university, exploring the facilities and seeing State College in person, Howard has another big thing that he needs to find out from the Penn State coaches.
“I need to find out how they’d use me in their offense and move me around as the inside receiver, the slot and the outside receiver. That’s something very important that I plan on talking to them about when I go up there.”
Depending on what recruiting site you’re looking at, Howard could be projected to go to a different program. Currently, one site has Florida as his leader, while another one has Tennessee. Howard set the record straight on where his recruitment stands.
“I’m still in the process of finding what school I will attend,” said Howard. “But I’d definitely say that Florida, Ole Miss, Penn State and Florida State are in front of the other schools.”
Other schools that have extended Howard an offer include Arkansas, Auburn, Colorado, Georgia, LSU, Louisville, Miami, Mississippi State, Missouri, Notre Dame, Pitt, Tennessee, Texas A&M, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Howard tells NSN that he plans on making his decision before the start of his senior season and “I don’t want to drag things out too long and want to enjoy my senior season.”
