One of if not the biggest storyline heading into the weekend was what sort of impact would visiting Penn State have on elite 2025 four-star wide receiver Taz Williams Jr.?
Williams is on record saying that Texas A&M was his leading school but that his other finalists still had a chance depending on how the official visit went.
Williams has now visited SMU, Ohio State, Texas A&M and Penn State with a trip this weekend planned to Michigan.
The current plan is for Williams to announce his college decision July 13.
Upon his arrival at Penn State, Williams told NSN that he had some questions for the Penn State staff that he hoped to get answered such as 1) opportunity as a freshman 2) specific usage in the offense 3) Penn State’s new pass offense.
Williams returned home to Texas Sunday and prior to a workout this morning, Taz gave NSN some quick thoughts on the Penn State visit and if they were able to make up any ground against Texas A&M?
“It was a dope experience, better than I expected,” said Williams. “They really showed me the love and treated me like a top priority and paid attention to all the details. For me, the highlight was the offensive staff breaking down film with me and showing me how they plan on using and developing me. Also, bonding with the other commits from Pittsburgh and chilling with some of the players on the team outside of the coaches and the staff.”
So, the now the million-dollar question and the answer Penn State fans and coaches were waiting to hear? Does Penn State have a chance with this top-tier recruit?
“Yes, they answered all the questions and checked all of the boxes. Yes, they did (make up ground with Texas A&M) and it’s a toss-up and no clear favorite. But I still have an official visit set for Michigan this weekend so we shall see.”
