Penn State Wrestling: Aaron Brooks Upsets Gold Medalist David Taylor

University Park— There has been and will continue to be examples of Penn State wrestling on Penn State wrestling violence throughout this weekend’s U.S. Olympic Wrestling Trials in Happy Valley.

A good example took place Friday morning, when Alex Facundo shut out teammate Levi Haines at 74 KG.

But probably the best example took place the following morning. Four-time defending NCAA champion Aaron Brooks upset reigning Olympic Gold Medalist and Penn State great David Taylor.

Brooks beat Taylor, 4-1, and will have to do it again in a best of three series to go to Paris for the 2024 Olympics. It was the first time any U.S. wrestler had beaten Taylor since 2017. But Brooks still has work to do, and the work is much easier than it would have been had he lost to Taylor in Match 1.
