Barker, a four-star listed at 5-foot-11 and 183 pounds, started his prep career at Beebe High School in Arkansas. He stayed there through his underclassmen years.
From there, he transferred to the Woodlands School in Texas. Now, he plans on finishing his high school career at Miami Central.
Barker won’t be the only Penn State commit in Miami Central’s backfield next season.
QB Bekkem Kritza, who played last season in Colorado, will be playing at Miami Central as well.
Additionally, one of Penn State’s Class of 2024 signees, defensive tackle T.A Cunningham, played at Miami Central.
Barker has been committed to Penn State since late last April. He announced his decision the day after he visited campus for the annual Blue-White Game.
With OL Jaelyne Matthews and safety Omari Gaines each de-committing, Barker is now Penn State’s longest-reigning of Penn State’s 11 Class of 2025 commitments
Nittany Sports Now spoke exclusively with Barker upon his announcement.
“They showed me love,” Barker told Nittany Sports Now Saturday night, “and then they gave me my first big offer when I was in my freshman year and kept a mutual relationship ever since then.”
“And from having the visit there and showing us the love that they showed us, it felt like it was the right thing to do.”
RB greats such as Franco Harris, Curt Warner and Larry Johnson made their marks on Happy Valley.
Today, Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen are one of, if not the top rushing duo in college football.
This lineage was one of the main things that inspired Barker to pick Penn State. his bond with coach James Franklin and his staff also played a big part.
