Trustee Anthony Lubrano issued a motion to name the football field after Paterno at the board’s meeting Friday. It would also honor the late Paterno and his wife Sue this fall. Trustee Jay Paterno wanted the resolution to “be held for a later date,” which resulted in Lubrano rescinding his initial proclamation.
Former Penn State and NFL linebacker Brandon Short, a current board member, doesn’t want to see Paterno’s name used as a “political stunt.” Outcries against the potential change ensued and swept throughout the state.
