Penn State ended its trip to Florida 0-3, falling to VCU Sunday in its final game of the ESPN Events Invitational.
It was an even first half, with Penn State trailing 46-40 at the break.
In the second half, Penn State tied it at 52 by the 14 minute mark.
But eventually, Penn State ran out of steam.
Former VCU player Ace Baldwin— who followed his old coach, Mike Rhoades, to Happy Valley— led Penn State with 27 points. Qudus Wahab added 14 points and D’Marco Dunn also cracked double figures with 11. For VCU, Alphonso Billups III led the scoring with 23 points and fellow guard Zeb Jackson was right behind with 22. Max Shulga (19 points) and Toibu Lawal (11 points) also cracked double figures.
Penn State will look to get back on track Saturday, Dec. 2, against Bucknell at the Bryce Jordan Center. Tip-off is scheduled for noon on the Big Ten Network. Its Big Ten opener is scheduled at Maryland four days later.
