A lot of people are unhappy with Penn State football, and at least one letterman feels the blame starts at the top.
During Penn State’s 34-13 loss at Northwestern Friday night, former DL Fred Hansard told everybody exactly how he felt.
WHAT HANSARD WROTE
Hansard, who played defensive line for James Franklin at Penn State from 2017-2021, had a lot to say throughout the game, but the most notable post was this:
“Don’t you ever think one man can’t ruin an entire football problem…we’re experiencing it firsthand with Pat Kraft! #PennState”
For better or worse, Kraft is the reason Penn State football is where it is right now.
It was he who decided to fire Franklin after a 3-3 start last year, which led to a messy coaching search that ended with Iowa State’s Matt Campbell.
Campbell and his staff recruited most of this roster to Penn State, which all goes back to the athletic director.
Hansard has a lot more to say.
“Is the Big 12 conference really that soft?” Hansard wrote, “lol” #PennState
This is, of course, in reference to Campbell’s Big 12 background and the 24 players he brought over from Iowa State.
“I’m definitely grabbing a 12 pack of Yuenglings at 9am sharp tomorrow morning…” Hansard wrote.
No explanation needed for that one.
“Bob Chesney was right there smh….#PennState
Let’s talk more about that…
WHAT ABOUT BOB?

For a time, it looked like the Penn State coaching search may end with Chesney. Chesney, a PA guy who kept James Madison winning after Curt Cignetti, was one of the hot names on the market. But one thing led to another, Chesney ended up at UCLA and Penn State got Campbell after striking out on BYU’s Kalani Sitake. So far, Chesney and UCLA are 4-0 and in the top 25.
Campbell and Penn State are 3-2 and about to be bounced from the coaches poll (it got bounced from the AP last weekend).

Is it too early to lament about what might have been? Maybe. But when a program like Penn State loses to a program like Northwestern by three touchdowns, people are going to ask questions. Questions about how things got to this point.
