All 105 is a Nittany Sports Now series profiling each Penn State football player. This edition will look at freshman defensive tackle Tyriq Blanding.
Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 276 pounds
Hometown: Bronx, New York
Before Penn State: Blanding chose Penn State over Michigan, Oregon, Syracuse and West Virginia, among others. He was a four-year starter for Christ The King High School, where he was a two-year captain. During his senior campaign, he collected 46 tackles, six tackles for loss, five sacks and three forced fumbles.
Where he stands: Playing time for Blanding along the defensive front seems limited. It’s a deep group, though the positive for him is he was the only interior lineman Penn State brought in for the Class of 2023. Expect Blanding to play in four games and redshirt while he adjusts to playing college football.
