Former Penn State PF John Harrar Inks Deal in Japanese League

On Thursday, former Penn State basketball player John Harrar signed with Veltex Shizuoka of the Japanese Basketball League.

He spent last season with Alega Cantabria CBT in Spain.

The 6-foot-9, 240-pound Harrar averaged 9.3 points and 6.3 rebounds for Alega.

Harrar is second in career Penn State games played with 146 games played behind Myles Dread (154), tops in rebounds in the Big Ten Tournament for a Penn State player with 72, second in Penn State history with a 59.3 field goal percentage, and finished fifth in school percentage with a 59.2 field goal percentage.

Harrar is also one of six Penn State players to finish with 800 points and 800 rebounds at the school.

In January, Harrar was instrumental in forming Happy Vally Hoopers, a team that will be playing in The Basketball Tournament which consists of former Penn State basketball players that will compete in a 64-team single-elimination tournament that the winner will get a $1 million cash prize.

Harrar and the Hoopers will take on The Nerd Team in the first round of the tournament Monday.
