Jaylen Harvey, a four-star defensive end from Maryland’s Quince Orchard High School, has PSU as a finalist along with Florida, Maryland, Tennessee and USC.
The 6-foot-2, 235-pounder went on an official visit to Penn State the weekend of June 2.
He took an official visit to Florida the following weekend, and followed that with an OV to USC. Harvey has an official visit to Maryland scheduled for this coming weekend (June 23-25), so the only finalist he hasn’t scheduled an official visit with is Tennessee.
Harvey’s predicted to commit to Penn State according to 247Sports’ “Crystal Ball” projections.
National Recruiting Analyst Brian Dohn and Tyler Calvaruso of Lions247 each placed predictions for Harvey to pick Penn State in late October.
More recently, 247 Kentucky Insider Josh Edwards picked Harvey to Penn State after his Penn State OV.
PSU offered Harvey last April ahead of his junior season. He also has offers from schools such as Boston College, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Louisville, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Ohio State, South Carolina, Syracuse, Tennessee, USC, Vanderbilt, Washington and West Virginia.
In December, Harvey announced that PSU was in his top 11, along with Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Pitt, South Carolina, USC and Tennessee.
Harvey’s commitment announcement is scheduled for the 4th of July. Penn State’s 2024 Class is currently 17 strong and ranked seventh in the country according to 247Sports.
Harvey wouldn’t be the first Quince Orchard standout to commit to PSU football. Chop Robinson, also a defensive end, transferred in from Maryland after his freshman season in 2021 and quickly became one of Penn State’s best players.
