In recruiting news, Penn State football is in the top eight for Mekhai White, a three-star Class of 2024 receiver from Virginia’s King George High School.
White tweeted the news Wednesday afternoon.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound receiver has Penn State as a finalist along with Arkansas, LSU, Maryland, Michigan, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.
Penn State football offered White in March 2022 and is still recruiting him.
White had 37 catches for 1,019 yards and 18 touchdowns for King George this past season. He’s the No. 10 overall player in Virginia from his class according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.
Along with his finalists, White has offers from schools such as Arizona State, Auburn, Boston College, Duke, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Kansas, Louisville, Miami, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Nebraska, North Carolina, Pitt, Syracuse, Temple, Texas A&M Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
White gets along well with Penn State’s new receivers coach, Marques Hagans.
Hagans replaced the fired Taylor Stubblefield in the role this past January, and, like White, is from Virginia.
The Hampton native was at UVA for 12 seasons— spending 10 of them as the receivers coach— before making the move to Happy Valley.
“It’s almost like a father-son relationship,” White told Nittany Sports Now in January. “I’ve camped with him several times, plus he talks to me almost every day. I was very excited when I heard the news that he got the new position. Him going to a big program like Penn State is awesome. It was definitely a great hire for Penn State.”
Despite White’s relationship with Hagans, Michigan seems to be the favored. Both of 247Sports’ Crystal Ball projections have him going to Michigan. With that said, both projections were placed back in March, and a lot can change over two-plus months.
