In referring news, Penn State football Class of 2024 QB commit Ethan Grunkeyer take his official visit to Penn State the weekend of June 9, he told Nittany Sports Now Tuesday morning.
Grunkemeyer committed to Penn State earlier this month, and since then, things have continued to climb up hill for the three-star from Ohio.
The day after he announced his commitment, the 6-foot-2.5, 190-pound three-star from Olentangy High School competed at Elite 11’s State College showcase, and performed well enough to be invited to the finals scheduled for June 14-16 in Los Angeles. Grunkemeyer’s had quite a rise over this spring. His commitment to Penn State exactly a month after Penn State offered him.
Elite 11 president Brian Stumpf said Grunkemeyer was the eight QB to receive an invite thus far. There are 20 total slots. He was the only one to receive an invite amongst the QB’s that performed Sunday, May 21.
The Elite 11 Finals are a premier high school quarterback showcase.
Last summer, Jaxon Smolik played well enough to be named one of the Elite 11 at the end of the showcase.
Smolik had been committed to Tulane, but his performance there boosted his stock and helped him get offered by Penn State. Smolik ended up de-committing from Tulane, committing to Penn State in August and singing in December.
Grunkemeyer is the first QB to commit in the Penn State football 2024 recruiting Class. Grunkemeyer is the No. 37 quarterback nationally, the No. 20 player in Ohio and the No. 575 overall player according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
