Smith (6-foot-3, 198-pounds) is the number two overall prospect in the country, the top wide receiver, and the top player in Florida, according to 247Sports composite rankings.
Smith, who is a cousin of Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith, committed to Ohio State on Dec. 14, however, he is still taking visits to other schools, such as Georgia on May 19, Florida the weekend of June 2, and will go back to Ohio State on the weekend of June 9.
Smith has the ability with his track speed to take the top of the defense in one play and can box out defensive backs with his 6-foot-3 frame and make contested catches.
As a five-star prospect, he has the pedigree, but he will need to work on the little details, such as rout-running and hand-eye coordination, but with time he can develop into a number-one receiver for an elite program.
If Penn State manages to flip Smith, he would be the third player from the state of Florida to commit at Penn State after cornerbacks Jon Mitchell and Antoine Belgrave-Shorter from Mandarin High School in Jacksonville.
