An interesting recent offer from James Franklin and the Penn State Nittany Lions.
Following a recent conversation with offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich, Penn State has extended an offer to 2024 quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer.
Grunkemeyer is from Olentangy High School in Lewis Center, Ohio. At this point, Grunkemeyer does not have star ranking but that will no doubt change when the national recruiting services update their rankings. Along with Penn State, Grunkemeyer (6’2″, 190-pounds) holds 25 offers, including from Power Five programs such has Cincinnati, Indiana, Minnesota and Northwestern.
This past season, Grunkemeyer threw for 2,649 yards and 25 passing touchdowns, while rushing for 200+ yards and 4 touchdowns.
This rising prospect has been described as a player with explosive arm strength and pinpoint accuracy.

The last commitment Penn State received from an Ohio quarterback worked out pretty well with 2023 starter Drew Allar, so we’ll see what develops with Grunkemeyer.
For those wondering, this offer likely has nothing to do with the upcoming decision of 2024 4-star quarterback Michael Van Buren, who placed Penn State in his final three teams. Instead, this is a likely indication that Penn State plans on taking two quarterbacks in this recruiting class.
Nittany Sports Now will attempt to have more on this interesting offer.
