In recruiting news, Penn State will have a mid-week visitor from one of the top junior quarterbacks in the country.
2024 4-star quarterback Michael Van Buren, from St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland, will be visiting Penn State this coming Thursday, Jan. 26, he tells Nittany Sports Now.
Thursday won’t be a day packed with visitors at Penn State, which will allow Van Buran to spend more time with Penn State’s coaches.
“I just felt Thursday was a great date for me and my family,” Van Buran said, “and it’s pretty much just going to be me there so I can spend plenty of time with the coaching staff and build a stronger relationship with them.”
Van Buren is rated by Rivals.com as the No. 6 junior quarterback and one of the Top 50 overall juniors in the country. Along with Penn State, Van Buren holds offers from Cincinnati, Maryland, Miami, Oklahoma, Oregon, Purdue, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, Alabama, Michigan, Ole Miss, Pitt, NC State, Rutgers, Missouri, Boston College and Arizona.

Prior to this Thursday’s visit, Van Buren (5’11”, 185-pounds) has made four other trips to State College, including three last season.
Van Buran told NSN that his relationship with Penn State is “very strong.”
“They make sure to keep in contact with me very often,” he said, “and Penn State is a school I’ve pretty much been in contact with since my recruitment started. Every time I’ve been on campus they have shown a lot of love.”
Penn State has two commitments from the 2024 recruiting class. Four-star OL Cooper Cousins (McDowell) has been committed since last January, and four-star LB Anthony Speca (Pittsburgh Central Catholic) committed last week.
