Penn State is in the running along with Cincinnati, Maryland, Miami, Oklahoma, Oregon, Virginia Tech, and Wisconsin. Van Buren (6-foot-0, 185 pounds) is the number three player in Maryland, the number seven quarterback, and the No. 103 ranked player nationally, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Van Buren is a pro-style quarterback that shows good mobility, but he is better suited as a pocket passer. He shows great anticipation, gets the ball out quickly, and displays pinpoint accuracy. Van Buren has the arm strength to make all the throws in the pocket and has nine-inch hands. Van Buren may lack elite height, but he makes that with everything else i.e. prime Russell Wilson.
Van Buren has shown leadership in the film room by showing great temperament on the field. He has to work on average young quarterback things i.e. staring down receivers and working on core strength, but he is a high-upside quarterback at the Power Five level.

One outlet that has a prediction favors Penn State landing Van Buren. On3 prediction machine predicts Penn State with a 28.8% chance of getting Van Buren followed by Mayland at 8.8%.
However, there is a long way to go in his recruiting process, and he doesnโt seem in a hurry to commit anytime soon.
