Barney Amor has become a fan favorite at Penn State.
The punter is averaging 44.2 yards per kick, and 15 of them have gone inside the 20-yard line, which is tied for 14th in the country.
Before Penn State’s White Out win over Minnesota this past Saturday, Amor decided to talk to some Penn State students.
“Who is your favorite player?” he asked around.
“Nick Singleton,” one student said.
“Gotta be Singleton,” another said.
“Nick Singleton,” said another.
One picked Jahan Dotson, although Dotson is now in the NFL.
Another picked Abdul Carter.
“I don’t have one,” responded another,
“Joey Porter, baby,” one said.
Amor then asked students, “what do you know about the punter here at Penn State?”
“I think he’s pretty good,” one said.
“I think he’s good,” another said.
“Average,” an unimpressed student said.
“I think he should kick it farther,” one critiqued.
“The last time there was a game, someone said he was bad,” another student said.
“I don’t know who the punter is,” one confessed.
“Barney Amor, he’s cool,” a more-educated student said.
“So, is he good, bad, or what?” Amor asked.
“I think he is good, yeah,” a fellow student confirmed.
“I mean, like, he’s fine,” one said.
One student said he was a soccer player and believed he could punt for Penn State.
“The punter is pretty good,” one Penn Stater observed, “but I don’t see much of him actually, like, doing anything.”
Amor then revealed to the students who he was.
“It looks like I’ve got some work to do,” Amor concluded.
