Smeltz’s Top 25: Week 6

Eight teams from my previous top 25 rankings fell this past weekend, and four of them are still in this week.

There’s also a new No. 1, and a new team at No. 10. But enough talk. Here are my top 25 rankings for Week 6 of the 2022 college football season.

No. 1 Alabama— Georgia got lucky at Missouri. ‘Bama to care of business on the road against a good Arkansas team. Therefore, there’s a new No. 1.

No. 2 Ohio State—
Ohio State stays at No. 2 after taking care of Rutgers.

No. 3 Georgia— Still a playoff team, but Georgia hasn’t been impressive in either of its last two wins and, to me, should fall because of that.

No. 4 Michigan— Coach Jim Harbaugh’s team looked good at Iowa. Then again, Iowa stinks.

No. 5 Clemson

No. 6 Tennessee

No. 7 USC

No. 8 Oklahoma State

No. 9 Ole Miss

No. 10 Penn State— Penn State’s spot in the AP Poll is just right. The team hasn’t been impressive since it’s demolition of Auburn, but because of the weather and how Penn State controlled Northwestern this past Saturday aside from the 10-point final score, I think it did enough to move up ever so slightly given two top 10 teams fell this weekend.

No. 11 NC State

No. 12 Kentucky

No. 13 Oregon

No. 14 Utah

No. 15 BYU

No. 16 TCU

No. 17 Wake Forest

No. 18 UCLA

No. 19 Kansas

No. 20 Syracuse

No. 21 Washington

No. 22 Kansas State

No. 23 LSU

No. 24 Mississippi State

No. 25 Minnesota— I had Minnesota at No. 15 in my last poll, and considering it didn’t have its best player, RB Mohammed Ibrahim, in the loss to Purdue this past weekend, the Gophers will stay in for now.
