Penn State is in the running with Alabama, Florida, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Virginia Tech. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound Belfort is the 26th-rated quarterback, the No. 57 player in Florida and the No. 356 player nationally, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.
Belfort, the son of UFC legend Vitor Belfort, was born in Brazil and moved to the United States at the age of five. He started his prep career at Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach, Florida, last season when he threw for 2,016 yards, 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also ran for 230 yards and six touchdowns as a dual-threat quarterback.
Belfort was reclassified from the Class of 2025 when he transferred to Gulliver.
Belfort spoke to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports about Penn State when he was breaking down his top seven. He said head coach James Franklin’s experience in offensive play calling and quarterback development is appealing to him, and he’s also a fan of Penn State offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich.
“I love Penn State,” Belfort said. “One thing that really stands out to me about them is how coach Franklin is involved in the quarterback room. He was an offensive coordinator previously. I love coach Yurcich. I feel like I’ve built a really good relationship with him and the coaching staff. I went up there in April and loved it. I definitely felt the family atmosphere.”
Penn State has only one commit for the Class of 2024, offensive guard Cooper Cousins.
