Penn State target Sam Greene, a Class of 2023 athlete, has announced that he will be announcing his commitment Thursday at 8 p.m. before his school St. Frances (Baltimore, Maryland), will be playing at Venice High School (Venice, Florida) on ESPN 2.
Penn State is in the running Boston College, Texas A & M, and USC, for the 6-foot-2, 260-pound Green, who is a three-star recruit according to Rivals.com and On3.
Green is a fast-rising prospect that had an original top three of Temple, James Madison, and Old Dominion.
He was not rated at any of the recruiting outlets before the summer, but after impressing at camp, he started to pick up offers from power five schools with the first being an offer from Boston College on Aug. 21, then Penn State the following day.
Greene started his career at Bishop McNamara in Forestville, Maryland, for his freshman year and then transferred to Rock Creek Christian Academy in Upper Marlboro, Maryland for the past two years before transferring to St. Frances Academy for his senior year.
Greene has the size to be a three-technique tackle because he ran a sub 4.9 40-time and a 4.5 shuttle time. On his game tape, he has shown the ability to get off the line of scrimmage and shed blockers and get to the ball carrier.
If Greene were to commit, he would join Tariq Blanding in the interior defensive line in the 2023 recruiting cycle.
