Penn State Football All 105: Isreal-Achumba Looking to Prove Himself

Photo by Penn State Athletics: Golden Israel-Achumba

All 105 is a Nittany Sports Now series profiling each Penn State football player. In this edition, we’ll look at redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Golden Isreal-Achumba.

Height: 6-foot-4

Weight: 331 pounds

Hometown: Bowie, Maryland

Before Penn State: IsrealAchumba played four years at the famous DeMatha High School. He had 18 pancake blocks as a junior and 20 as a senior.

Rivals had him as a four-star recruit. 247Sports and ESPN each had him as a three-star. Israel-Achumba committed to Penn State in April 2019.

At Penn State

2020: Isreal-Achumba didn’t play in his first season at Penn State.

2021:  He redshirted and appeared in one game.

Where he stands: Isreal-Achumba doesn’t have much college football game experience under his belt, and Penn State’s offensive line has more depth than it did last season, so he shouldn’t be expected to have a significant role in 2022.

But Isreal-Achumba did see a lot of time with the first-team OL in spring practice and during the summer due to injuries and Cornell transfer Hunter Nourzad not being on campus yet, and that experience could benefit him and Penn State at some point down the road.

A quote about Achumba: “I love our young guys,” offensive line coach Phil Trautwein said last September. “Jimmy Christ, Ibrahim [Traore], Golden [Israel-Achumba]. All those guys are working hard.”
