Cameron Lenhardt, a 6-foot-3, 240-pound defensive end from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, will be committing Thursday, and Penn State is in his top three.
Penn State is in the hunt along with fellow Big Ten schools Michigan State and Nebraska.
Penn State offered Lenhardt in July of 2020, and he’s visited the school multiple times since then, including for Penn State’s night games against Auburn and Indiana last season.
In an interview with Ryan Wright of Rivals.com, Lenhardt said Penn State has been “like a home” for him.
“I’ve been there four times,” he said. “I’ve been to the White Out game (against Auburn), and I’ve been to the Stripe Out game (against Indiana). Penn State has felt like home. Throughout my four years in high school, they have been consistent with me.”
But Nebraska seems to be the heavy favorite for Lenhardt. All five of 247Sports’ crystal ball predictions have him picking “Big Red.”
If Lenhardt surprises and picks Penn State, however, he’ll be the second EDGE to commit to coach James Franklin’s 2023 class, joining Jameial Lyons, a four-star from Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia who committed in April.
